Saffron Walden THE BEATLES and a Yellow Submarine!

Saffron Walden THE BEATLES and a Yellow Submarine!

One of Snow Walker’s most notable building surveys was of a thatched, period property nestled in a beautiful river valley. Located just 5 miles from Saffron Walden, this picture-box listed cottage was once home to Heinz Edelman the Czech-German illustrator/designer. Heinz went on to become famed for his art direction and character designation. In 1967 & 68 he produced cover artwork for the Beatles album Yellow Submarine. The iconic album was released on 13th January 1969.

Legend tells us, some of The Beatles came to parties at the cottage and enjoyed a few beers at the old Coaching Inn opposite. There is a mature cherry tree in the garden, with four different types grafted on the rootstock – thought to represent John, George, Paul and Ringo.
